Self-paced boot camps do not have live sessions and therefore have no set time requirements.
-
Yes! You are provided with exam vouchers AND retake voucher opportunities. Students are provided a process and schedule that allows them to earn the certification(s) prior to graduation. Additional time is available if needed.
-
Obtaining an entry-level cybersecurity job is challenging for those without tech experience. We have found that TechWorks provides students with a doorway to the tech industry. After gaining their certifications in the program, as well as some work experience after graduation, students are much better positioned to advance to a cybersecurity job.
-
This varies from student-to-student and program-to-program. Most of our live virtual boot camps consist of about 20 hours of live instructor-led sessions each week for 12 weeks. To successfully prepare for the course’s certification exam, you may also want to dedicate at least another 20 hours per week to 1-1 tutoring, self-study, practice exams, and more.
-
TechWorks is designed so that students take and earn both certifications within the program. If students need extra time to prepare, they have up to 30 days following graduation to access intensive 1-1 tutoring, support, and exam vouchers.
-
Yes, you can certainly finish early, if you are meeting your weekly learning milestones. Although this is not recommended, it is an available option for students.
Students will be taken through an intentional process and learning journey. However, if students need extra time or support, their instructional team is available to assist with their pace.
-
Typically, our live virtual programs are available in the course and scheduling formats described here. Students can always work ahead of the schedule and finish early to shorten the course. However this is uncommon. We also offer self-paced courses.
From time to time, partner organizations request customized programs with a modified schedule.
-
TechWorks has earned an exceptionally high performance track record since 2019, because it provides an articulated and intentional learning pathway for students. We require students to first obtain their CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification, and then proceed to the CompTIA A+ material. If you need extra time after TechWorks, your learning materials are available for up to 6 months following graduation.
-
Yes, however, it would depend on your work schedule and ability to commit to our curriculum.
Our programs are true bootcamps — meaning condensed and intense. Evening schedule variations are available for students working during the day. However, at least 10 hours per week outside of virtual class is recommended for studying, practice exams, and other learning activities.

TechWorks helps students earn their CompTIA IT Fundamentals and CompTIA A+. The curriculum is intentionally arranged in this order, so that students have the greatest likelihood of earning their certifications.
It is exceptionally difficult and uncommon for a student to successfully earn Security+ or Network+ without first obtaining the IT Fundamentals and/or A+. So, students will remain focused on these two certifications while in TechWorks.
However, both Network+ and Security+ are available to students after TechWorks as self-paced courses, and at times live virtual. The tuition fees for both are described here. We may even be able to offer discounted or no-cost training through partner funders!
-
While participating in a live virtual boot camp, you will learn from an experienced trainer and IT professional during instructor-led sessions and complete a wide range of engaging activities, such as group work, 1-1 tutoring, simulate labs, practice exams, flash cards, team exercises, lecture, and more.
-
The time spent preparing for IT Fundamentals and A+ is approximately equal during TechWorks.
-
Yes! You may choose between our live virtual classroom and a self-paced format, which provides access to all of our engaging course materials, pre-recorded videos, custom-made learning platform, and more. Live virtual sessions are not included in the self-paced format, so you have maximum flexibility when completing your course work.
-
In our live virtual boot camps, you may expect upwards of about 20 students in your class. We carefully vet, screen, and select our students, so that the classroom consists of like-minded, passionate, and success-driven individuals who are eager to grow in their tech career.
-
All of our live and self-paced boot camps include extensive support options, ranging from 1-1 tutoring outside of virtual class, mindset coaching, career-readiness training and coaching, peer support, alumni support, employer connections, and more. These benefits are included standard in many of our courses and are of no additional cost to students.
-
Our alumni will receive a certificate of completion, in addition to any certification that was earned while in the program. These certifications are issued by third-parties (e.g., CompTIA) and will be sent directly to you from them. For example, TechWorks graduates can earn both a CompTIA A+ and CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification. You will also receive access to our Employer Partner Network!
Recruitment & Screening
-
Yes! Nearly all of our students are brand-new to tech and have no prior IT experience or training. Instead, they have a passion for technology and informal (e.g., hobby-level) experience. For example, many of our students are their family’s or neighbor’s “unofficial tech support”.
-

This depends on a few factors. First, our standard tuition for TechWorks does not include a student laptop. However, through partner funders, one may be provided either free or at a discounted cost. Speak with a Program Advisor to learn more about this.
Only a basic laptop or desktop is required, and we typically recommend that it be no more than 4 years old.
-
Although students can participate in most of the TechWorks curriculum through a phone or tablet, a desktop or laptop is required for select aspects of the program, such as the third-party proctored certification exam.
If students do not have a functioning laptop or desktop, we may be able to provide one at a discounted rate or at no-cost through partner funders.
-
Equipment requirements are minimal, as students only need access to broadband internet and Windows or Mac-based laptop or desktop with working webcam and microphone. Chromebooks, tablets, and other handheld devices may not be suitable. Some students may even qualify for a free laptop depending on eligibility requirements of our funders. Our student recruitment and screening process is designed to help candidates quickly receive a decision, while ensuring that the individual has the prerequisite skills to succeed in the boot camp. At minimum, the recruitment process may include a video or phone interview and program application. Should a student pursue tuition assistance, additional processes will be involved – however we will help you along the way!
-
Depending on the program and whether you are pursuing tuition assistance, the screening process can take as little as a few hours to a few days. Speak with a recruiter today to learn more about timelines!
-
We do our best to assess the qualifications of each candidate to determine if they are a fit for our tech boot camps. Some of our foundational boot camps (e.g., TechWorks, Build-IT, and CodeWorks) do not require much IT experience. However, SecurityWorks and NetWorks do require a deeper technical skill set. Many of our alumni land employment following their virtual boot camp, however, we do not and cannot guarantee employment for students. Locating a job depends on many variables, such as the amount of effort a student puts forth in the job search, the type of position a student seeks, the demand for such positions in their local economy, and so on.
