A career launchpad that turns non-tech learners into certified IT and cybersecurity professionals.

Program Overview

NJIT and Verizon are offering a fully supported pathway into tech and cybersecurity careers—no prior experience required. You’ll build real job skills through hands-on training, earn recognized CompTIA Tech+ and A+ certifications, and complete an NJIT AI Literacy microcredential. The program blends instructor-led learning with a Cybersecurity Community of Practice, where you work on real tools, challenges, and a final competition. Eligible learners receive practical support like a laptop, hotspot, tutoring, and career coaching. You will also access AI-powered job search tools and opportunities to connect with employer partners.

You will access at least four separate program modules to build stackable tech skills:

  1. Digital Lite » You will learn foundational digital workplace skills to set the foundation for more complex technology skills and concepts. (4 weeks)

  2. TechWorks » After completing Digital Lite, you will build hardware and software technical support skills, develop modern career-readiness skills, access job search tools, and earn two IT industry credentials: CompTIA Tech+ and A+. (12 to 16 weeks)

  3. AI Literacy Microcredential » Through facilitated online learning, you will learn the foundations of AI, effective and responsible use of AI, and the technical aspects of AI. Completers will earn an NJIT Digital Badge for your resume! (self-paced)

  4. Cybersecurity Community of Practice » The Cybersecurity Community of Practice is a weekly hands-on learning circle where NJIT graduate facilitators and industry guests guide you through real tools like Linux, TryHackMe, and HackTheBox. It blends career exploration with practical challenges, culminating in a team-based competition and an NJIT digital badge. This runs at the same time as the TechWorks & AI Literacy modules but the hours do not conflict. (12 weeks)

  5. CompTIA Network+ / Security+ » After mastering the preceding course content, you may have the opportunity to join an intensive, highly valuable cybersecurity and networking course and earn additional industry credentials. The top-performing students will have the opportunity to move on to join this intensive and valuable training module. (12+ weeks)

If you meet eligibility guidelines, a member of our team will contact you to schedule an interview. Because this is a high-value, competitive program, a recruiter will speak with you for about 30 minutes to evaluate your readiness and qualifications for the program. To prepare for a successful interview, please consider these questions:

  • Why do you want to join training and what are your goals for training? 

  • What do you want to do after successfully completing training? 

  • Why are you interested in tech and when did you discover this interest? 

  • Have you taken any courses around tech in high school, college, or otherwise? 

  • Have you ever received a tech certification (current or expired)? 

  • How do you feel about the schedule and time commitment? Do you have any conflicts or concerns? 

  • Have you ever completed a long-term training program? (boot camp, college, apprenticeship, etc.) 

  • Have you worked in the tech industry before? 

  • What challenges do you anticipate in this program and how will you overcome them?
